marfa art
took a quick trip to marfa, one of my favorite places on earth...the entire town is essentially one giant artspace, with installations hidden in every crevice of the city just waiting to be discovered by the observant visitor. at the edge of town, there's this series of giant barns and hangars that were set up by the minimalist artist Donald Judd as a home for his work to be put on permanent display. the land on which theses barns sit is also home to judd's huge concrete block installation, stretching hundreds of yards into the surrounding landscape...too cool.
this is actually the side of one of the concrete blocks and not wood...the wooden forms used to make the blocks left the impression of the grain in the concrete, giving them this weird texture that i thought was pretty cool.
